Paige came into care from our outreach community with 5 of her puppies and is now ready to find her forever home
Hi there, I’m Paige and I’m looking for my best friend in the whole world. I hear best friends can come in all shapes and sizes, so I’ve been trying a few out to see which one might be best suited to my personality. I’ve tried making best friends with some cats, and the ones in my foster home like to play with me too! Sometimes if they run I chase them, but I’m working on that. I try making best friends with other dogs, and they are a ton of fun! I don’t care if they are big or small, as long as they can run fast and play hard! There are some times when I don’t like a dog, though. I’ve been known to be reactive on a leash – I don’t like being held back from free-range play. I also still have difficulty with mixed signals sometimes when meeting another canine. Like I’ve said before, communication is key. I can be good friends with a kitty or a dog if we get the proper introduction.
I also tried making best friends with my puppies, but I was told they needed a mother more than a friend, so I took really good care of them until some nice people at GEARS helped me with some babysitting. Sometimes I went without food because my puppies’ needs came before my own. I’m working on learning that my new humans somehow ALWAYS have food in the cupboard – they must be rich – but that wasn’t always the case for me. Sometimes I forget and I try to eat too fast, so my foster mommy has given me something called a ‘slow feeder’ and tries to play games with me to get my food; she says it’ll stop me from choking from inhaling it too fast. Speaking of humans, I think they make the BEST of best friends. Their communication style is right up my alley – I’ve learned a lot of new tricks and love the mental stimulation. Their cuddles are out of this world! I love my naps and the love of a human makes me feel so safe when I want to relax. And best of all, they don’t seem to mind if I put on a few pounds. I love a judgement-free zone; when I came into care, I was skin and bones, and now that I’ve gained a lot of weight, I’m getting compliments, like ‘Paige, you’re so healthy’! I know whoever my best friend will be, it will be someone with a big heart, in any shape or size, because love doesn’t come in a physical package.
If you think you can be my new human best friend, apply to meet me today!
