Hello! My name is
Ophelia – on hold for applications
Ophelia came to GEARS care as an owner surrender and is ready to find her forever home!
HI there! My name is Ophelia. I am a gentle, smart, and loving girl with a kind and caring spirit. My foster mom says that I have a special ability to pick up on human emotions and that makes me unique. All I know is, whenever you’re happy, I’m ready to play, and whenever you’re down, I’m ready to snuggle. I am happy to stick by your side and comfort you through even the toughest of times, and I’m very good at knowing when you might need some extra love.
I’m very smart, and learning new tricks is one of my favourite things. I know sit/stay, lay down, shake a paw, roll over and up, and will do them with verbal or hand signal commands. I am so smart, I even know what is mine to chew, and what isn’t! However I still sometimes have trouble remembering my name. I am quiet most of the time, but will let you know if there is someone at the door. I love car rides with my foster mom, and will sit quietly in the back and look out the window. One of my favourite places to go is the off leash dog park to make new friends and play fetch. I also love to explore natural areas where I can run free- but don’t worry, I know to stay close! I also love to just go for walks around the block, but sometimes it takes me a little bit to get used to being on a leash.
I sleep soundly throughout the night and do not need to be crated. I would absolutely love to keep you company in your bed, but if that’s not your thing, I’m okay with snoozing pretty much anywhere. I respect boundaries within the house and learn quickly what rooms are off limits. I also know to ask to go outside if I need to use the bathroom.
I love playing keep away with my ball and toys. I also love playing fetch, but sometimes I’m so excited I just want you to chase me instead! When it comes to weather, I’m not picky at all. I absolutely love being outside, and have fun playing in the snow, rain or sun! When I want to come back inside, I will wait patiently at the door until you let me back in.
I don’t have any cats in my foster home, so I’m unsure how I feel about them. Even though I am a little big, my best-dog-friend is half my size, and we can play all day long together without any problems! If I am in unknown territory and on a leash, I can be a little stand-offish meeting new dogs, but in any other circumstance, I have no problem making friends! I also love kids, so much so, that sometimes I can get a little too excited when I am playing with them, and need a gentle reminder to not forget about the importance of personal space.
I am so excited to meet you, and I can’t wait to settle into my forever home with my new best friend(s)!
Medical Note: Ophelia received surgery for eyelid entrophia while in care, she recovered quickly and is doing well.
