Rescue Story

Mac came into GEARS’ care through our Sheltered Paws program after being found as a stray. After time spent in a loving foster home, he is now ready to find his furever home!

My Bio

Hello, my name is Mac.

I’m a soft-hearted, gentle boy with a shy soul and the sweetest little meow you’ll ever hear. I’m only 1.5 years old, but I’ve already learned how wonderful it feels to be loved by someone patient and kind.

When I first arrived in my foster home, I was very scared and spent most of my time tucked away in hiding spots. My foster mom gave me all the time, space, and gentleness I needed—and slowly, I began to trust. Now I happily greet her, follow her around the house, and even carry my favorite stuffed toys from room to room. I love quiet playtime, soft head butts, and curling up nearby once I feel safe.

I’m still cautious with new people and new places, so I’ll need someone who understands that trust grows slowly. But once I feel secure, I blossom into a loving companion who will give you all the purrs and affection in my heart.

I do have a heart condition, and because of it, I will likely only live to be about 5 or 6 years old. I don’t need anything fancy—just a calm, caring home and a person who will love me for the rest of my days. I promise that every moment we share will be filled with tenderness and gratitude.

If you are that special person who can offer patience, stability, and unconditional love, I would be so excited to meet you. I may be shy, but my heart is huge—and I’m ready to give it to someone who will cherish me.

Love, Mac ♥️

Medical Note: Mac has a serious heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), which will affect his lifespan, and he will likely only live to around 5–6 years of age. He also has asthma. Mac takes Atenolol 6.25 mg (¼ of a 25 mg tablet) once daily, and he uses an inhaler once a day with an Aerokat spacer. Atenolol costs about $20 for 100 tablets, and his inhaler is about $60 per month
