Rescue Story

Fig came to GEARS as a transfer from another rescue to find her forever home.

My Bio

“Oh, ummm, Hi” Fig peaks her head out from behind a wall to talk to you “ummm, hello, sorry, I’m a little nervous, you see I’m still learning how to be comfortable around new people and in new places. My name is Fig, I sometimes go by Figgy, Figaroo, Figarooni, Figster and Little Bean”

Fig comes out a little more to talk to you. “I’m looking for a family to call my own. I really like other young, playful puppies. Playing is just the best, I would really like a place with a nice big yard that I could run and play in! I find dogs that play too rough or that have rude greetings scary though. It just makes me uncomfortable.

I came from a situation that wasn’t very good, and have been learning how to be a dog. So far it’s been pretty good! There is a nice lady that I call foster mom that I really like! I was scared of her at first but once I got to know her I realized people can be nice! I learned how to go potty on the outside, and I learned how to go for walks too. It took me a while to be comfortable on a leash, but now I just love walkies!! My foster mom says I need a little bit of work on my leash skills, but I just get so happy that I can’t help but want to go go go!!

I have a foster brother that I just love so much! I try to get him to play with me all the time! I’ve also helped foster other puppies and I just love them too. They all got adopted already, but so far no one has wanted me . But that’s ok, I know my home is out there somewhere!!

It takes me a little while to get comfortable with new people touching me, so I need a home that will be patient and give me time to settle in. I like having a spot just for me that I can go to if things get a little overwhelming. But once I get to know you I love sitting on the sofa getting belly rubs. When I want more belly rubs I like to paw the air, that’s how I tell my foster mom I want more pets! She thinks it’s cute!

My foster mom calls me a hoarder because I like to bring all the stuffies and toys to my bed, but I don’t see anything wrong with that, I like to play with them!!

I’m not destructive and am good when left alone during the day in the house. I will probably never be a dog that can go to dog parks, but a nice quiet home where I get to play outside and go for walks would be so amazing!!

I do take some pills that my foster mom said is to help me with my fears. I think it has been helping me, I feel braver and braver every day!”
