Rescue Story

Chessy came into GEARS care from our outreach community heavily pregnant. She had her babies and was an excellent mom, but is now ready to find her forever home!

My Bio

Hi I’m Chessy!  I am a sweet sweet girl who LOVES attention and cuddles.

Walks with my foster brother are the highlight of my day, sometimes my leg gets a little sore so short walks are best for me, you see I had a surgery on my leg while in care, but it’s getting better everyday! I love to play with other dogs in the park, it’s so fun running around with them! I like smaller dogs too but sometimes they get a little nervous around me because I forget how much bigger I am.

When my foster parents are at work or sleeping I usually lounge around or sleep soundly on the couch, or on the floor by my humans’ bed. Sometimes I can get a little bored and chew on things, but leave me with a Kong or something fun to play with and I will be happy!

As much as I like walks and to play with other dogs I love to eat more. In fact, when it’s time for breakfast or lunch you might be lucky enough to see my happy dance!

I am great with people, including children, although occasionally need to be told to keep my paws down. I can’t help, it I love to give hugs.

I am very smart and slowly working on new tricks, I know how to shake both paws, sit and lay down. I always want to follow my humans around so learning to stay has been a bit of a challenge.

I am very calm and rarely bark unless another doggo walks by, but I am just saying hello. I’m sure I will make a great addition to your family!

Love, Chessy

Medical note:  After coming into care and after weaning her puppies Chessy needed TPLO Surgery on her right back leg. Surgery went well, but she is still rebuilding some of the muscle in that leg, so will need a home willing to work with her to strengthen the leg and monitor her activity until it’s built up again.
