Hello! My name is
Brandi came into GEARS care as a transfer and is ready to find her forever home!
Hi there! My name is Brandi. I am a lean 52 pounds. To start off, I will tell you a bit about myself. I am a very smart and loyal girl. I may take a bit of time to warm up to you but once I do it’s worth it. I know my name and come back to you when I am called, even with distractions! I understand that I am supposed to do my business outside and have gotten really good at going first thing in the morning, before bed and right after meals. I even know the words poop and pee! I know the commands: sit and shake a paw and down. My foster mom says I am well mannered around food and will never try to steal yummy human food. I am not a fan of my crate but lucky for you, I don’t destroy things if you leave me out while you are gone. My preference is definitely for you to be home as much as you can.
I still need to work a bit on not getting overly excited when you get home but I am getting better. If I feel anxious my Thundershirt makes me feel better and calms me immediately. I am still working on my leash skills, although treats are a great distraction! I will always tell you if someone is walking by the house. I mastered up and downstairs like a pro.
For fun, my favourite things to do is catch a ball, run around the backyard with my human, go to the off leash with my other dog friends, chew bones, get belly rubs and play tug of war. I enjoy sleeping on beds and furniture if you let me but will respect your wishes if you don’t like it. I know I will fall deeply in love with my humans in my new forever home. Look into my beautiful eyes and tell me I’m the one!
Behaviour Note: Brandi has some moderate fear/insecurity based reactivity on leash and behind barriers. She is very smart and re-directable but requires proper introductions to new things and an experienced handler. Her new family should consult with a force-free trainer who can help her gain confidence!
