Rescue Story

Max came into GEARS as an owner surrender and, after time spent in a loving foster home, is now ready to find his furever home!

Hi! My name is Max, and I am a very sweet boy. I was nervous at first in a new place so just wandered around the house crying. Now I am letting my goofy personality out!

I have two foster cat siblings who I sometimes like to chase but otherwise ignore. I have a foster dog sibling but haven’t been able to play with him lately because he had knee surgery. We played together well but there was some jealousy around certain food and toys in the beginning. I have not been around kids but think I would do great around older kids. I am a bit clumsy and don’t always know where my giant head is. My foster dad calls me a bull in a china shop.

I am nervous with vet visits and new places. I love new people but get a bit too excited and jumpy so I am working on that. I also love to be outside and go on walks but am working on not pulling so hard on a leash. I will need some help with leash training. I can be vocal if I need to be a guard dog. I also cry when I am excited in the car or when I am not by your side. I do not seem to have separation anxiety and do not need to be crated when my foster parents are gone.

I am a strong chewer but only on treats and toys. I love playing frisbee with my foster parents and getting belly scratches. I have a hard time eating my meals unless my family is with me.

I have lots of energy outside but can also be a happy lazy dog inside with the occasional zoomies. I would be fine on my own or with some siblings and would love if you were home often to hang out with me.

Can I come live with you forever?

Love, Max 🤎

My Bio

Hello there! Let me introduce my handsome self. My name is Ernie or Ernie Bernie or Big Boy! I’d like to tell you how good my life is and how good I can make your life! See, I was living outside and did not have a family. I was sad, scared, and hungry. Other cats were beating me up and even broke one of my teeth. It hurt so bad I cried. Then one day, some amazing people found me and took me to my foster home. I was still really scared and hid for the first few days. But my foster family showed me so much love and attention that I decided it would be better to come out and see what that was all about. Within a few days, I was a completely new man. My foster mom calls me her gentle giant because I am a very big boy and I love to give kisses and cuddles.

I realized that I did not have to fight for my food anymore, there is always lots of food and no one hurts me to take it. Even my other cat siblings share with me and no one fights! I realized that it is better to sit on the back of the couch and watch the outdoors than to be out there in it. And then….I discovered toys and playing! Oh my gosh is that ever fun! My siblings even play with me! But, the best part of all is those fuzzy blankets and a good old chin scratch. I have everything I need in life, well except of course a forever home. I could be your best friend if you let me.

I am fine with other cats being around and playing with me but my mom reminds me sometimes not to be too rough because I am so much bigger than most cats. I am not so fond of that guy they call a dog but we’re learning to live with each other. I think I would love some kids to play with too because as my mom says, I am a gentle giant. However, I would also be a really good companion if you live alone. You and I would never be lonely ever again. I love to talk so I will tell you about my day while I snuggle on your lap and you can scratch my chin and HUGE chubby cheeks!

Let’s have a video chat and I will show you just how lucky you’d be if we could live together.
