Abel was adopted as a kitten and is being returned to GEARS because he is not getting along with his feline brother and is ready to find his new forever home
Hi there, I’m Abel and in tune with my namesake, my life is dedicated to fighting for justice and equality! For instance, I believe cats and dogs should be equal and so I intend to act like my canine counterparts as much as I please. Most people think cats mind their own business and dogs are the ones demanding your presence, but I don’t understand who made the rules and why I should have to sit on the sidelines just because I purr instead of bark! I’ll get as much attention and cuddles as I please, thank you very much. If I don’t, you can enjoy a nice mewtiful song by yours truly!
Another thing I’m “not supposed to do”: beg for food! If you have leftovers, I’ll gladly take them if you’d be so kind to leave them on the counter. I stick to a high protein diet and eat wet food only – just the finest of flavours for me, please! I’ve also taken on the role of Professional Door Greeter. I’ve been told that’s actually the resident dog’s job, but he just isn’t doing it right! I am the first in line to show him just how much the humans really need to be appreciated. All things being equal, I go for walks just like any dog AND cat should. That’s right – I’ve been trained on a leash and harness and love to explore my neighbourhood. I try to convince the humans to let me outside even without the leash – just like my canine friends – but they are not budging! They continue to trick me with treats to sit away from the door while they get their shoes on for that thing called work, but hey, I don’t really mind because a happy belly makes a happy Abel! I want to make friends with most humans, and I will tolerate some canine or feline siblings, but I’m not much for roughhousing and will get a little moody when they are overly rambunctious. I would do best in a home with calm pets or none at all. In fact, I’d prefer to make friends with six legged pals instead of those with four – I’m always admiring the butterflies and grasshoppers on my walks.
Most of all, though, I want a best friend with two legs. Maybe that’s you!
